The Wedding of Pocahontas

It was a beautiful day at Jamestowne Island - perfect weather for the wedding of John Rolfe and Pocahontas.  The World of Pocahontas put on a beautiful commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the marriage, and I was fortunate enough to attend the morning ceremony.

Quite a crowd had gathered to witness the ceremony.

As I understand it, historians cannot agree on which minister officiated the wedding, so we had them both.  Rev. Alexander Whitaker and Rev. Richard Buck:

And they were married!

I feel very honored to have played my own small part in helping to create some of the clothing for this historic occasion.  (In addition to helping with the embroidery, I also did a little work on John Rolfe's ensemble.)  It was very cool to be there to witness it all.  :)
